Wood Floor Refinishing

Depending on the type of wood, completion time for a refinishing project will take us between two and three days. Natural wood takes two days while stained wood takes three. If your floors are covered with carpet, vinyl, tile, or laminate, we can take the existing floor up for an extra fee. Our staff always puts down plastic sheeting to contain any dust. We can change the color of your hardwood by staining it and also sand out pet stains.

Wood Floor Installation

At Thomas Lorentz Wood Floor Service Inc., we install the wood perpendicular to the joists, then let the wood sit for a few days to acclimate to the home. Wood floor installation can be done in three ways - it can be nailed down, grooved down, or floated if it is engineered wood. Solid wood flooring is installed on the first floor of property or above, whereas engineered wood can be fitted anywhere. If the wood is above grade, you do not need a moisture barrier.

Wood Floor Repairs

If damage has been caused to the floor in the house, or there are sections where the hardwood is missing, we can replace the floorboards or missing areas. If a white mark has been left by something scratching the surface of the floor, we can fix it by putting polyurethane over the scratches. Dents in the hardwood floor can usually be fixed by putting a wet rag on the wood and letting it sit. The water should cause the wood to expand, taking out the dent.
